Faithbooking has emerged as a way to record these gifts so they are forever remembered. A faithbook is essentially a scrapbook, but journaling squares with your memories of highlights in your life take center stage rather than photographs. From time to time you may want to include photos as well, but the point of the book is to forever record your thoughts and memories of faith-related moments in your life.
When it comes to deciding what qualifies for a record in your faithbook, don't over think. Everyone has moments that qualify as real blessings or gifts in some manner, and yours will be completely unique from anyone else's faithbook.
Start by making a list of things you are thankful for and events or moments in your life where you felt your faith and the love of God the strongest. It could be the day you gave birth to your children, the day someone you loved passed away and you knew they were out of pain, or even just the day you committed your life to Christ.
The only requirement needed is a sentimental space in your heart!
If you are overflowing with ideas for your faithbook, you may want to organize them according to the order they occurred in your life, essentially creating a walk through of your life and the role faith has played in it. Or, you may just want to complete whatever topics weigh on your heart the heaviest and add the others in later.
If you are struggling to come up with writing ideas, consider creating an organizational format which will lead to ideas:
* Expand upon Bible verses that remind you of events in your life
* Explore by the year or month
* Develop categories (family, church, etc.)
If you plan to use Bible verses, find ones that speak to your heart and bring to mind events of your life that are special to you. You can present the verse somewhere on the page and use your journaling space to express whatever comes to mind.
Opening a new album every year and organizing it by month will allow you to forget organizing according to how things actually happened in your life and allows you to express whatever is weighing on your heart or coming to memory each month. You can create as many pages per month as you feel lead to create.
Finally, having different categories will allow you to think about the different types of faith and blessings you have experienced and put them where they belong.
You create your faithbook just as you would any other scrapbook, using typical scrapbooking supplies. The only difference here is that your memories, thoughts, and emotions take center stage rather than highlighting photographic memories.
You can even find digital templates online which will allow you to create digital photography layouts then print them out for immediate use.
