I have just started scrapbooking as it looks creative, and since I'm getting older I would like something I can look at. I am just wondering at what types of themes I can do as I am stuck. Please help. Thank you.
Hi Christina,
I can talk for hours on this very topic! When I look for themes, I usually look at the photos I want to scrap for ideas. Other than the people being photographed, does anything jump out at me - for example, a particular item or color?
Many times I use this as a starting point, and then try to find paper that reflects this theme. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Before I cut anything, I put it all on the table together and stare at it. If it doesn't "speak" to me, then I look for another element in my photo(s) that I can use, and try again.
It's not an exact science - that's for sure! It's just what I do.
Another thing you can do is take a look at what others are doing. For example, if you have a pile of Christmas photos that you want to scrap, it can help to look at Christmas layouts that other scrappers have put together. Check out the scrapbook layouts section of this site for more ideas - over on the right, you will see links, where you can view specific examples of what others have done.
If anyone else has advice for Christina, or would like to join in the discussion, we would love to hear from you. Just leave a comment!
