Kindergarten Layout
Hey everyone, it's Dawn ("webmaster" here at Scrapbooking4All.com). I just finished a kindergarten scrapbook layout of my oldest son using this sketch. He's in junior high now, so as you can see, I am a bit behind. I actually skip around a bit when I scrapbook. Maybe one of these days I will get organized and do my pages in order, but right now, it's just not happening.
Even though it's my own sketch, I changed it up quite a bit, based on that I wanted to do a 12x12 layout instead of 8-1/2x11.
Actually, I do most of my scrapbooking on 12x12 pages - my family albums and my two boys scrapbooks are in this format. I stray from this format when I am putting together theme albums (i.e. wedding, vacations), but since I'm not working on any right now, I'm stuck with 12x12.
Overall, I kept it basically the same as the original sketch, except I added some filler based on the larger page sizes - a thicker border on the top and bottom of the layout, thin border on the left and right sides, and a few extra die cuts for embellishments.
I used red and yellow as my color combination. The red picked up well with my little guy's Spiderman backpack, and the yellow for his blonde hair. Now that he's older, his light blonde hair is now dark blonde (almost brown), so it's something that caught my eye in the pics.
I originally was going to use brown for my background paper, but the colors really seemed to pop when I put them on the black, so I used that instead. The patterned paper is from the Grade School Stack from Die Cuts With a View. I love their paper, and have used that stack for all kinds of projects. Here are some clipboards that I made for my kids' teachers this past Christmas:
