I forgot to mention this in my original answer, but scrapbooking kits are also good for beginners. There are all types of kits for different themes, and the nice thing is that everything is coordinated, making it very easy to put a page together.

You can buy scrapbooking kits that will let you put just a couple of layouts together, or you can buy kits that allow you to do an entire album. Most craft stores stock these, and I have even seen them at Wal-Mart and Target. If you like to shop online, many of the online scrapbooking stores have a great selection. You might want to look at HSN as well - they have an awesome scrapbooking department on their website.
