Starting a Scrapbook Store that will be Successful
Just like you take out newspaper ads or hang up flyers to let everyone in the community know that you have set up a new store in the real world, you have to let others know that your new scrapbook store exists online. Otherwise, no one will know you are there and you will fail before you ever have a chance to take off.
Starting a scrapbook store is just like starting any other type of business. You have to advertise so others will come to the store and hopefully make a purchase. This is called drawing in traffic to your site when you are selling online.
Targeted Traffic
Anytime anyone clicks on your website it's a good thing. It means people are starting to see that you exist and are coming to see what you have to offer. Yet, the best kind of traffic is targeted traffic, which means the people visiting have some level of interest in your products before even clicking into your online store. In our case, you want to draw in people who enjoy scrapbooking because they are more likely to make a purchase.
One way to get targeted traffic is to give away free knowledge. You can have a section of interesting articles related to scrapbooking, reviews of different scrapbooking brands and products, or even a section where viewers can share pictures of layouts they have created. Scrapbookers are always looking for new layout ideas!
If you optimize all of this content for keywords that people who love scrapbooks generally search for, you will start to draw in that valuable targeted traffic. They may come looking at your layout ideas or to read an article, but they may end up making a purchase at some later date.
Keeping Your Customers
Once you get traffic coming to your site, you want to keep them coming back. A scrapbooking store can actually be more successful here than many other types of online stores, since most people who love scrapbooking will continually need new supplies. If you carry a wide variety of products with a lot of different layout themes and coordinating items, chances are high that you will develop some loyal customers who continually come back for new scrapbooking supplies.
Another way to entice your visitors to make a purchase or to purchase more is to offer special shipping discounts. Since a lot of scrapbooking supplies are very lightweight such as papers and paper accents or stickers, you can offer flat shipping rates.
For instance, one store I am very loyal to offers a special where I can get one low shipping rate for everything that will fit into a large envelope the seller has. I always look at that store when I am shopping for scrapbooking stickers and papers because I know I can fill up the envelope and save on shipping.
The best way to keep your inventory selective to make this type of discount possible is to go online and compare prices from a variety of wholesalers. You want to find a supplier who will give you good deals so you can pass those onto you new customers.
Without an Internet presence, it doesn't matter how low your prices are or what a great inventory you have stocked. If they can't find you, they can't buy from you!

Text BoxThis is the same full width textbox as used on the main body column. However, it automatically resizes to fit the narrower column, as it isnt a fixed width. A pale background like this is ideal for putting testamonials in. |
